the difference is estate or saloon

i think someone on here says the XANT suspension cylinders can be modified to fit if all ells fails,

i think people are going to start re/coning these as they become more scarce,
boar them out and fit a liner, or weld the holes up and have the boar re/machined,

Welding it up might be an easyish option, as the bore is not a sealing face. So long as the welding doesn't distort the cylinder so that the piston no longer fits, there shouldn't be a problem. I have one used spare left, which I'm kind of reluctant to part with. Let me know though, if you still have no success.

i would think if you leave a scrap piston in the cylinder whilst it is ally welded from the out side it will work,
take all seals and rubbery components off first though

Thanks for your replies and offer of help.I`am going to buy a berlingo today and the bx will remain as a project.I`ll take the cylinder off and see how much it would cost to manufacture. The casting would not not be expensive, but i expect the machining will be.

cheers Phil.

Have you tried your Citroen dealer? Even if the BX version is NLA there is information on here about the slight mods needed to make a Xantia part fit.

I would expect a second hand unit to be available when a bx is broken for parts.

If I break another, I would certainly keep all the suspension pistons.

In the past I haven't bothered, but these parts are becoming desirable now.
