Philips head unit

Post by Philip Chidlow »

I've got the DC082 CD changer wired up in the 'boot' of our newly acquired 806, but the head unit's missing. The old unit hasn't been cut out - the ISO, CD changer and steering wheel control leads etc. are intact - but I have no record of the type or code. A quick look on the internet suggests I need a Philips DC521, DC741, DC740 or DC964 head unit.

Anybody got one I can buy?

I don't, but I can confirm that the Phillips head unit fitted to 90s Discoveries (and other Rover cars of that era) is compatible with the DC082 if that opens up other search avenues.

I reckon the head unit out of the series 2 XM will be ok. Mine is fitted with the Philips cd changer. Try Wolsey House motors or eBay.

Phil, just checked the audio handbook for my XM. It is fitted with a Philips RDS 4040. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll look into it. The thing is I need to be able to fit it to the standard slot and hopefully connect up the steering wheel controls - as well as (maybe, if I'm lucky) the CD changer)...

Found one. It has an MG logo on it, but it's definitely the one. Thanks.
