Offered in the Citroenian this month, needs a new clutch (supplied) been off the road sine 2006

That would rather depend upon how you went about it. Having changed a clutch on a BX 4x4 Estate myself, it was alot easier than I had been led to believe.

Whilst its true a clutch change takes alot longer than a normal Bx. The easiest way I found was complete removal of the front subframe (leaving the steering rack in situ) and then dropping the complete engine and gearbox through the bottom of the engine bay (after disconnecting everthing).

Whilst this approach is certainly time consuming its not difficult, and it allows unhindered access to all the normally impossible to reach places, allowing you to be able to easily change items such as the doseur valve, clutch cable, and any suspect pipework whilst the engine and g/box are out of the car.

NOTE!: One redeeming feature of the BX 4x4 is that the return octopus is mounted remotely on the drivers side inner wing, hence changing this is easy compared to a normal Bx.
