GTi Hurricane Project

Post by Tim Leech »

Mark Dunmore is Thinking of parting with his Hurricane GTi but only to someone who will mend it,

It needs a headgasket and some welding to one step and a small hydraulic leak.

These are as you know very rare as a petrol, car does run and is in fair condition.

Some pictures of the Hurricane in its current state, taken today. There is an album link at the bottom, with all today's photos.

Had a prod about, and found more holes in the boot floor... :( On the plus side, found a good 2CV headlamp I'd forgotten about! :D

As you can see, the Speedlines are currently fitted to the TGD estate; these will be swapped back to the Hurricane. The stereo will be coming out though! You can see the hole in the sill top, just under the door seal. All the other door shuts seem fine, along with the front door hinges. More info to follow...

Now promised to Gary. I'll be sad to see it go, but at least it will live again! :)

Excellent! far too rare a car to let it dissolve away and at least one good car can be made out of the two.

 Very good.

I collected the car from Mark on Sunday and first impression are good, the outer body is in good condition if a little green with mould.
The car started but runs on 3 cylinders but i was able to drive it onto back of the truck, suspension rises in all height positions but has a small leak on the return circuit when dropped back to normal height.
The rust in the boot isn't to bad but i may regret saying that once i start digging about, front bumper is cracked and the splitter is missing ,the interior is excellent .
I will have a better look around it once Christmas is out of the way.
Many thanks to Mark for his help on Sunday, sorry that you had to let this car go but it will live again.

Loaded up and about to leave Mark's house.

The only problem i have is do i scrap one car to save the other or bite the bullet and save them both?
