BX 19TGD sold The new owner sent me a few pictures

Post by CGATCX25GTITURBO »

I've added some more recent pictures from Sunday 6th Jan. It will still benefit from a valet and a proper T cut. Tyres are getting to their end too.

I've just bought another car, depending how that one fairs, I could be selling my trusty partner of 9 years. Still using it daily for now, a mixture of town and ;) 70 mph dual carriage way, for this it returns 43 mpg. A motorway run wouldn't be a shock to it.

Registered 30 Jan 1992 soon be 21!
Myself and two other keepers
MOT'd 24th Nov 2012 due again 27th Nov 2013
Taxed till MAY
99,000 plus Miles, being used daily so will increase.
Had it's yearly oil changes. Always by 6k
Cam belt was changed at 72k with the water pump
Recently this 2012/ last year 2011
Battery
Alternator regulator brush box.
Brakes, discs and pads.
Ball joint
Anti roll bar bushes
Drop link
Clutch valeo
GKN driveshafts (replaced as I got the shafts cheaper than the boots) and the seals were done
Genuine fuel lines
Arm bearings
Rear spheres (fronts charged last year)
For the MOT the back (oops missed BOX) was welded on, it fell off, on the way to test. Wasn't a replacement where I live so it was repaired. there is a complete brand new exhaust available with the car but the repair is a good one.

Temporary repairs
3 years ago tank to pump feed pipe (braided hose, it went at work) still going strong
2 years ago octopus return height corrector (nylon tube) still going strong

It has been welded on the rear panel (where they all go)
Inner wings are ok for now.. showing signs

Front windows are not as quick as they used to be (it has a one touch drivers window switch)
The drivers seat squab is frayed and the interior could do with a valet.

Other good things about it
The areas that usually give trouble and can be seen are good, in the door shuts ETC
The glove box lid is intact
The heater temperature control works, and the fan speed is variable (now I have tempted fate) :)
Doesn't sink overnight
Starts easily when cold, though in these temps I have been giving it three goes on the plugs, and it starts on all four with the fast idle working.

There is no real reason for me to sell it, other than another car appeared and there won't be room on the drive now my lads are driving.

It's not perfect but quite presentable and very useable.
I have the MOT's since I bought it, the hand books and two keys.
The dealer plates are still fitted too
Original Blaupunkt Boston CC02 radio cassette

These are what is looked like really polished and some recnt ones when I got off me fat Christmas bum and gave it a quick polish.
A bit of a paint has fallen off a few of wheel covers too. Just need to vacuum it now, trust the bloody snow!

Like all used cars, there are things that could be done to improve it, as they aren't detrimental to how it drives or runs, I live with it. I have one car that can't be left in a car park park etc.

You need a price, but judging by what they fetch, how nice it is and the low mileage for its age I would expect you to get near £800+
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

Thanks Tim, 750 or so is reasonable then, gives a bit of room for someone to personalise it :) Theres a bit of comfort to potential buyers of the cars that are out there for 300 to 500 needing a clutch ETC are saved the bother and expense with buying this one. It should be good for a few years yet. I wouldn't be thinking of selling it if that other car hadn't caught my eye. I still have my Dads 1987 GTI to recommission so I won't be leaving the BX fold entirely.

I bought a Xantia 19TD estate with 7,500 miles. I'm collecting it tomorrow but will use the BX until 11th Jan probably.

I posted this up on Facebook and it turns out that it passed through the hands of Peter Simpson, editor of quite a few classic motoring titles over the years, at one point. He wouldn't show up on the log book as he buys cars at auction and sells them on. Apparently it had 29k miles on it when he had it.

I have a feeling it featured in a Car Mechanics guide to servicing a BX circa 2003 - wonder if I still have the magazine...?

Quite likely. Think he was the editor at the time.

Ah, now I think about it it must be earlier than 2003 as it was an article my Dad cut out and kept when he owned his BX. But it was a red BX diesel pictured.

Well the Xantia is all sorted :)

I've been asked about the hydraulics on this, they seem good, pump kicking every minute or so and it stays up overnight ;) now I've tempted fate.

Found an interior that can be available with the car... been in the car will need a bit of a freshen up, but doesn't look ripped.

It from a TZS estate the door cards side bolsters and 4 head rests are with it.

there are a few bits of snow between the seats in the back of the car.
