Wanted, battery securing clamp.

Post by saintjamesy89 »

As the title, my GT doesn't have one, and the engine earth strap is unnattached (I believe it should attach to the clamp securing bolt). I suppose I could bodge one together, but it's a special car so would like the real and proper thing :)

These clamp on the base of the battery don't they? if so, I've used a Saxo one (couple of quid on Ebay) on the GS which was missing a clamp.

Ime sure the earth strap should not attach to the batt clamp bud, havnt seen a BX with that set up. Should attach to the bulkhead just below and to the side of the batt. Just cleaned up Sophie's and its made a magnificent difference and all the lights work so much better and the starter motor is much faster.
I did have a spare but had to use it on Sophie. however ime sure someone will have one and ime sure you realise its an MOT failure now to be without one.

Erm, on all 4 of mine theres an earth strap with a lollipop end with a hole in it that fits round the bolt that holds the clamp tight against the battery itself.

Dosnt seem to be any on mine Tim, the earth strap fits directly to the body along with 2 other lollipops. Its what i cleaned up on Sophie the other day. There was nothing on the batt holder and its not there on any of my BXs

It is not the main earth lead Andy, but a supplementary lead from the gearbox case to the battery clamp.
It is not fitted to either of my diesels but is on both of the GTi's I have and it was also fitted on the GT I had a few years ago.
