Wanted: Radio, glovebox and possibly more!

Post by Willy »

New car, new to buy list.

1. Glovebox, black please, working (currently have grey with a snapped hinge)

2. A radio. Cassette preferable but not necessary (so I can plug an iPod in). Nothing fancy or "retro" needed, I just want some sound.

3. Complete set of those little plastic screws that hold the boot trim in place

4. A cheap induction/cone filter kit would be nice as well as the present series of airboxes and hoses are pretty tatty

And finally, how do I replace a wingmirror? I have a new one to replace the semi-faulty current and, after removing the single torx screw in the door card and subsequently yanking it quite alot, nothing happened to expose the bolts that hold the mirror assembly in :?

Hi bud,

Cant help you with the first 3 items but you will have to remove the entire door card to get at the screws for the wing mirror. Pitty its not a MK 1, then its easy as you dont have to remove any trim.
There are any amount of induction filters available on ebay and are brand new.

Dont forget that you have to remove all the screws on the door card, not just the one and if you start yanking it all out you will bugger what you have!!

Re door card
1. Remove speaker grille and unscrew the speaker and unplug from wiring harness.
2. Unscrew the door locking/unlocking thingy on top of the door card.
3. Under the armrest are two screws, remove these.
4. Using even force remove the door card from the door.
5. The mirror is held on by two small screws, remove these and if your mirror is electric, unplug and detach.
6. Obviously re-assembly is the reverse of the above.
