WANTED: NEAR-SIDE QUARTER PANEL and a few bits

Post by amatuerbx »

HI

Has anyone got a near-side quarter panel for an '88 Citroen bx DTR? A big ask I imagine! Even bigger asking for it in silver!! Also the little lights on the boot that lights the number plate? I'm missing one. Also a one spoke steering wheel?? Will pay reasonable prices.

Regards

Chris

firstly saloon/hatch or estate, secondly the rear qaurter is welded into place not bolted on, so i would have thought if you intend fitting a second hand one it will need re/spraying anyway,

send Andy ( Mothman ) a pm as he has an estate he is/has dismantling/ed

were are you located, as i probably have some good number plate lamps,

You've obviously not seen the NOS panel on E-bay which Tim posted up in the SPOTTED section ?

If your in desperate need of one, I should go for it even with the slight damage (Any good body shop will planish that out without any great problem) as its probably the only NOS that currently known about in the whole of the UK !

The last one NOS that was available, Des Smith bought from IMPERIAL CRASH-REPAIRS back in June 2011 and IIRC there was another one that had been tack weld onto a vehicle and removed and listed on E-bay, but I can't find the Post (Sorry) !

I don't know if NT Shaw's still have any panels left but they were much more expensive if you check THIS thread out

How many of the rear-number plate lights are you after ? (I have one perfect condition available) !

Good luck !

:)

That one cost me £75 and I paid something similar for a NSR panel the previous month. Both are now being welded on to the St Tropez along with the sundry bits of tinwork in the boot floor being fabricated by Chevronics. I gather from Rob that he is quite happy to repair and/or replace rusty panels. If you go to their Facebook page, check out the photos of a red BX16TGS OSR panel with terminal rot around the fuel filler. Rob has also repaired his own BX19TRS with exactly the same problem.

If, like me, welding and major bodywork repairs are beyond your scope, it might be worth talking to Rob to see if he could rebuild your existing rear wing rather than replace it. Of course, it depends whereabouts you are in relation to Hitchin and there may well be other bodywork specialists who could also tackle the job closer to you. FWIW, I didn't want to squander two NOS panels by having them badly welded on by some backstreet monkey, which is why it has taken me so long to find a Citrophile to do all of the bodywork in one hit.

Whatever you decide to do, the best of luck!

I was wondering whether there might be a danger of a bidding war between forum members? It's up to £21 at the moment, but it isn't perfect...

Hi Chris, so its the 'Near-side Rear Quarter' panel your after then ?
Its really the same situation with them 'unobtainium' and Tim bought the last OEM one that AEP had back in Nov. 2011, unless you can find a dealer that has any NOS gathering dust ?

If its just the lower half of the panel that will sort out your corroded/rot (As after-market ones are still available) ?

Click on photo for link !
But I shouldn't hang about too long in thinking about buying it as theres only one showing and as with most of their stock 'Once its gone its gone' (As they bought a load of stock up from a Panel Manufacturer that went bankrupt)

If any folk are in need of the lower O/S/R section they only have two of those left too !

As to your bonnet request, you need a short nosed type with it being the 'Turbo' model which has the A/C inter-cooler ducting on the underside !
I do have one (But its in White) however as yours is a DTR Turbo/early MK2 the chances of getting one in the correct shade of Silver will be very slim, as most BX's of that era would have gone to meet there maker by now :(

Send me a PM if I can be of help with the 'Short nosed bonnet' (I'm not far from you too, 5 minutes from Asda Spondon) !

I hope it doesn't got for silly money [-o< I'm actually not bothered about the dents as all I want is the area around the filler flap to weld into my estate panel.

Best revise the thread title then or pretend you're French, in which case it is the offside...

Four days to go. That's a long to spend on your knees!! Seriously though, Mat, wouldn't you be better off looking for a half decent panel from a scrapper to cut out the fuel flap section rather than hack up a complete panel for a hatch?

Possibly - I've got one lined up but not sure when I'll get it (the guy who has his hands full at present!) Then this became available and if it sells for an affordable price, it will mean that getting mine back on the road is in my control! I'd figured the dent would put people off, but maybe not...
