BX Alloy Wheels - type 11

Post by sdelasal »

I have three of these BX alloy wheel which are shown as 'optional' for 90-93. They need a clean up. I already have 4 of a similar type and actually bought them as spares by mistake! I now want shot of them. Any offers? PM me - Steve.

I might be interested depending on price. Could they be re-lacquered?

What's the likelyhood of finding another for the full set?

(but ven red :D )

I think they look great and a nice change from speedlines. The problem with them is that they're diamond cut and then lacquered straight onto the alloy, so they're very difficult to keep straight; which is one of the reasons don't see them that often - the other being that no one really bothered with factory alloys on lower specified cars.

These were accessory alloys for the "cooking" models and thinner than the speedlines fitted to GTI/4x4 models.

I would pop them on ebay myself as its the best way to determine theire value.

As an indication I bought the set Paul now has on his TGD for £50 (for 4) but they were tatty but did have tyres.

I like that actually, there is harmony there. Then the Speedlines do not take my eye, so I do not think I would have them, unless on a performance model. Some ali wheels are very weak and it can be a problem, exacerbated by the appalling state of some roads.
