I wonder if it's searching for a Xantia TD one - I don't see why you couldn't make one fit.

Ile have a chat with Malcolm when he gets back from Eurocitro Mike. He may have the part no. Might even know if a Xant one will fit.

I got one Mothman, you mean the sensor on the top of the gb? My tgd has one fitted but no rev counter?? As is the case on most diesels i think.

Re: Diesel Turbo Rev Counter crankshaft sensor wanted
Oh dear, not quite sure, it seemed to have come from the back of the engine. Bloody messy place, could have come from the top of the gear box, i didnt remove it, Malcolm did.
I seem to remember its held in place with a single bolt and has a long connector which goes into an electrical clip of some sort.
If its the one, would appreciate it if you know it works.

If not fitted with a 'Dash' Rev. Counter !rutter123 wrote:I got one Mothman, you mean the sensor on the top of the gb? My tgd has one fitted but no rev counter?? As is the case on most diesels i think.
The Brown plug on the end of the harness/lead is just usually left open ended on top of the rocker cover area (But clipped in place) to enable a diagnostic connection to plug into for checking the actual engine Rev's (i.e. at the main dealer's when being serviced) !
Andy !
As its for your TZD the Rev. counter sensor is really low down adjacent to the O/S drive-shaft (As on most 1.7/1.9 XUD Diesels) and is actually mounted on a cast flange which is part of the engine casting (Rather than being mounted off the gearbox) !
The sensor unit itself is a Black moulded housing which is mounted into the White plastic housing/bracket (Which in turn is mounted onto the cast-flange), see below !
The /\ image is from THIS thread for ref.
Also there's the photo of Matt's 1.9 TD engine he took out of his BX 'just to take a photo' of the Rev. counter harness
The above image taken from THIS for ref. !

Tried the search facility but it came up with so much info, none of which was of any use to me. I dont think its my friend as its not simple enough for me to easily use, not being very computer literate being old.
If anyone has got one or can point me where to get one ide be grateful. No good telling me Citroen without a part number.
Andy
Re: Diesel Turbo Rev Counter crankshaft sensor wanted
Not all the rev counter sensors are where shown on that picture.
Mine was mounted above that. It was held on the gearbox screws up to the side of the engine, mounted just above the flywheel held with a black plastic bracket & 10mm nut. The gearbox has a slot cut in it so the sensor can be fitted. If you look behind the hydraulic pump you should see it.
EDIT: Then I read this properly
Hope that helps.

Re: Diesel Turbo Rev Counter crankshaft sensor wanted
I have never noticed the rev counter pick up on my tzdturbo on the bottom bell housing, now more confused cos my tzdturbo has a pick up pn top of the bellhousing which IS connected to somewhere, the same pick up as the tgd which isn't connected to anything? Will be putting the turbo up on the ramps today to fix a leak so will have a looksee.

Re: Diesel Turbo Rev Counter crankshaft sensor wanted
Note! There are two types on the diesels, one for the TDC pick up, and the other for the rev counter.
The resistances are different, but the will both work on the rev counter.

My tzdturbo does not have the lower pick up just the one on top of the bellhousing, so Mothman if its the top one you need i have it.
