Hi

I may be interested in the arms. I am just checking out what the clunks are in my rear suspension when I go over bumps and I think it may be the bearings gone as there is a bit of rust showing near them. Your guess will probably be a lot better than mine as to what the problem is!

Cheers
John

The clunk is most likely the bearings failing, they are tapered roller bearings and as they collapse the odd roller turns sideways hence the clonk on the way up or down, usually can be seen by the way the wheels sit like this /\ viewed from the rear.

I am interested in these if John is no longer? Are MK2 and MK1 rear arms the same? I know the front end suspension has some differences. I think mine need doing sometime soon on the GT and figured putting new arms in is something I can do - whereas replacing the bearngs and all is too much, judging by the write up in the FAQ section.

Hi saintjamesy89, those two arms are now sold and on Johns estate-today in fact, i've just fitted them. I do have a brand new n/s rear arm with new bearings in but it has no stub axle or hub on it and i also have an o/s rear arm with new bearings with stub axle and hub but i suspect the wheel bearing will need replacing as its noisy you can have these for 75 the pair or i have a pair of old arms here suitable for reconditioning could poss rebuild them but that's gonna be quite expensive about 125 per side.
A local engineering company should be able to swap the stub axle over as i guess they are pressed in.
