Wanted - Original GTI or 16v Alloy Wheels

Post by MULLEY » Thu Jul 13, 2006 9:46 pm

Thought i have found some on e-bay, geezer wanted £100 for 5 which sounded ok to me, sent me some pics & they looked worse than described, so not bothering with them.

Anyone know of any that may be available, i dont mind either the silver or aranthacite colour but they must be in mint condition, no laquer flaking off & no kerbing either (i dont want much do i?).

Any ideas of how much i should pay for a set of these if some turn up?

Cheers

Anywhere between about £40-£100+ dependant on condition and tyres I would have thought.

If you can find some with NO kerbing or flaking then i'd be prepared to pay upto 150quid without tyres.

A reasonable set with useable tyres should be 150quid.

I sold a set to a member off this forum with nearly new P6000's with very few marks on. Cant remember what i sold them for though...??

Any ideas on how much it costs to refurb an alloy, i tried to get some done on my clio but couldnt find anyone local so didnt bother in the end. If i can pick up some grubby bx alloy's cheap, it may be worth refurbing them if its not too expensive.

Anyone know of any specialists who do them in the Derbyshire area?

The alloys i was going to buy looke like they should only fetch about half what the chap wanted, they did come with tyres, but i was going to buy my own anyway as they sounded like an odd mix, & i never drive cars with mixed tyres, just asking for trouble when you want to stop quickly or going round a corner on 2 wheels... hehe (within the national speed limit of course).

Cheers....

Yes, Dumelows in Burton do them. I'm just rubbing down my alloys to remove any pitting and then and i'm going to take them there to have them blasted and painted.

I think its about 25ish quid a wheel but i need to confirm this.

Mulley, have a word with Keith Davis Citroen specialist near Chester. I think his details are on the links page of this forum. He did have a couple of sets of these a while back, possibly worth a try?

refurbing them your self isnt too tricky!! all you need is the wheels, primer, paint, laquer and wet and dry! typically you can refurb a set of 4 for £35!!
i did mine 18 months ago and there still good!
worth doing if you have the patience!
