Wanted!

Post by cavmad »

Anyone got a working engine hoist they want to sell? Ideally as local as possible for transportation purposes. Don`t care how used it is or if it`s tatty as long as it works ok!
Machine Mart sell them but would rather line someone else`s pockets!

which type are you looking for? Makro were doing an offer not so long ago for an electric winch which you hang from the roof for about £50 a friend of mine bought one for moving stuff around his woodworking shop and he gave it the thumbs u.p,

You can rent them from HSS for not much, and I can tell you carrying it is a good test of BX suspension  we used one to change the engine in a mate's Volvo S40. Twas a lot of fun :)

Thanks chaps. I`ve seen the electric winch type, Citroen7, but applying anything more than about one ounce of force to the beams on my council garage roof would see the whole lot come crashing down!
Djoptix, thanks for the tip I might whizz down there after and see how much it`ll cost.
I`ll go out and buy one one day as it`ll be handy for when the big day arrives and I tell my bosses exactly where to shove their job and go self employed.

It's not that big a test really! I regulalry borrow a folding one off a mate, and as the BX is usually dead at the time, i borrow my mums car, a Mk2 AX diesel elation! Fits without a problem and thus far i havent done the car damage with it, and theres no change in its driving ability :D

I'd say probably a bit heavier, but your point is still valid IMO.

Who needs an engine hoist anyway.

My mate who was selling the immaculate 19tgd auto a few months ago seems to be able to manage without one.

Here he is fitting a replacement engine into the car complete with autobox attached. :o

That looks one of those comedy safety pictures! How not to do it! Still, looks like it must have worked?

This is Dean assisting in this moment of madness, although I'm told the tree was thoroughly tested for it's SWL before the engine was hung over the car.

Give credit where it's due, I had the chance of this car for a nominal fee but despite it's immaculate condition I decided to give it a miss, mainly because I didn't wan't to get involved changing the autobox and the injection pump, this work was being carried out at the same time as the transpennine transplant.

Shuan is worse than me (if thats poss) he'll tackle any sort of cars and never knows when he's beat, he's had a few BX's and currently an XM, as soon as he gets internet access again, we'll have to get him signed up.
