Starter-motor needed!

Post by Neil »

Hello BX aficianados!

I have a Dec 1988 16 RE. After over 155k, my starter-motor is in need of replacement (needs a good hard bang to cajole it into life).

If someone has got a second-hand starter-motor out there, please let me know the price you are asking, plus postage. My direct e-mail is nwatson@kennedys.co.uk.

Thank you!

Best wishes from Neil

Thats usually the way. Valeo one will be better, but if the Iskra one is a recon, it could have started life as a Valeo or Bosch unit anyway.
All hinges on price really, they're both warranted.

I would def go new one neil, I p*ssed about with scrappy ones but they all failed in the same way that it seems yours has - the solenoid on the side. It took 3 attempts to get the right one from GSF btw so make sure you're getting the right one (don 't even trust their part numbers...) Count the teeth on the gear as well just to be sure. I would push for Valeo, I'm even surprised they have two supplier types myself but ask for a Valeo and they should be able to get you one.
