Fair shout, but I've never seen a piston die as a result of hitting valves, and I've seen alot of bent valves!!!
The worst that would happen is the piston would be "bruised" but would go on indefinetley.
Fair play though, you're doing a right proper job!
Cheers

tis true the pistons would just get dented!! may even bring your cc's up by a couple!! hehe. but tims right you would probally just bend more valves and make the problem bigger. as he was half driving or bump bouncing along when it snapped so their is almost garunteed bent valves in my opinion. thats what the bouncing go stop leaner driver stuff was about, the pistons being introduced to the valves. (not dissing your driving tim just describing your cars movements.)

It may be that 8 valve Xantia heads bear a remarkable resemblence to BX 16/BX19/8valve GTi heads. Compression and valve sizes do change a bit - so careful measurimg may be necessary.
Also worth having a look and measuring the depth of the combustion chamber. The valve lift for a GTi is 10.3mm. More clearance will exist if the piston is dished.

Folks, had a text message from Sleepy who`s still having problems logging on here and viewing everything/responding.
He`s asked that if anyone wants to reach him (especially about his parts clear out) could they e-mail him please instead of replying or sending a pm on here?
If anyone doesn`t have his e-mail address please pm me for it, I don`t want to post it up just yet as spammers can pick it up.
Cheers,

The wondeers of Windows! - I've got XP on this machine with all the service packs - vista ready and all the rest. Apart from it being much faster which I'm sure is entirely due to the machine running it - I can't see its any better than Windows 98 - and seems to crash with similar ease.
Question is if I put 98 on this machine - will it run faster still as there isn't as much crap for it to negotiate!

Thats bad news Jeremy, I've got the ME version and I've noticed more problems since Microsoft unilaterally declared the ending of their support.jeremy wrote:The wondeers of Windows! - I've got XP on this machine with all the service packs - vista ready and all the rest. Was wondering about going for buying XP as it's supposed to be bombproof or utilising Windows 2000 which I have the CD's for. Decisions,Decisions.
