This is where i am currently sitting, i agree with everyone's point of view, in an ideal world there would be a wealthy retired club sponser who has a few warehouses filled to the rafters with cars & spares & who can also arrange for specialist pattern parts to be manufactured for club members.

And of course everything would be extremely priced in a non profit making business sense.

So does this person exist?? r u just shy & havent said anything yet?? or that person isnt a member yet?? who knows? i suspect that when the bx starts to become rarer & prices shoot up, then the above may happen. In the meantime if there are willing volunteers to do any aspects of bx custodianship then i am greatful.

I hope i have made sense? i'm just typing rather quickly as wifey has shouted that my tea is getting cold.....

I put my money where my mouth is and had a bid. I don't think I'll ever have a 4X4, but someone'll need it one day. Chances are I'll be outbid. But if I'm not, who's nearest? And would you mind being 'custodian of the pipe' if I pay for said item?

Thanks Jon, interesting and informative post which I`m sure we all appreciate.
I think there`s the possibility that as individuals some hard to obtain parts could be kept as a pattern if someone finds a company that could `re-engineer` them to help out others.
Again I would humbly suggest this is done as a personal thing rather than a sort of `official` club thing.
Hats off to Philip for what I believe is an excellent suggestion, these kind of things could help keep what we all agree are wonderful cars in the future.
Vauxhall apologist.
