1992 BX TXD Estate for Sale

Post by allmat »

If you look back in the BX Chat thread you’ll see that I posted a message (Hello from new member – but perhaps soon goodbye) in which I described the BX estate that has been my regular transport for the last ten years. This was a one owner car with over 90k on the clock (originally owned by a local carpet firm’s rep) that I bought from a local independent Citroen specialist (Mike Steptoe). Since then it’s been looked after by John Cox (who I wholeheartedly recommend as a travelling Citroen mechanic). I have some service history from before I bought it (not that I think ten year old bills are really relevant!), and every bill and MOT since. I’ll paraphrase what I said before into this post, and add a few more thoughts. The car was in everyday use until I bought a Berlingo in November (and also sold my ZX) but since then it’s been almost unused - but I guarantee that it will start without any effort. The car has done a little over 170,000 miles, returns about 50 mpg, uses no oil, has had a new clutch (and a secondhand gearbox with turbo ratios), cambelt, rear arm bearings, front spheres, and battery (plus various repairs as necessary). The rev counter is intermittent, the rear screen heater doesn’t!, nor the rear washer, and there are a few panel bulbs blown. But the tyres are good, so is the body (apart from a crease in the driver’s door) the interior’s tidy, and there’s a quite decent Pioneer radiocassette fitted. I live in Southend (in Essex) and I wouldn’t hesitate to get in it and set off for Scotland. The car is MoT’d until 28 Sept, and taxed until 30 Sept. Also with the car is a set of roof bars and a top box, for even more carrying capacity – we bought them to lug our three sons’ possessions back and forth from university.
Both my wife and I are really fond of this car – it’s done us proud, and we’d like to see it go to someone who would appreciate it.

which I hope will appear correctly in this listing – but if not, just get in touch anyway.
I’d like to get £400 for the car with the tax, or £300 without. Contact me (Dick Mathews) on 01702 342542 if you are interested.

I hope you're right!

The car is now on Ebay, as no BX Club member seems to want it.

Hi I was in Southend today...

but more to the point, it's not a case of no-one in the club wanting it - it is after all a desirable BX - it's all a case of being able to have it... money, space etc...

I've got a TXD estate and wouldn't hesitate in recommending them. You might want to post a link to your eBay ad. Just in case.
