Quite an extensive set of photos there David. Is the title ' Grey Mullet' a reference to a fish or to a hairstyle? If the latter, are you an 80s rock fan?
I have myself sported quite a few variations on the mullet hair-style otherwise known as 'work at the front, party at the back' 8)
Anyway, back to the thread : looks like a good 'workhorse' ( I can never resist that!) :D

Well, it's the fish, in fact - like the BX they have a popular reputation in parts of the angling world as being too difficult and frustrating to bother with - but ( like the BX again) you just have to adopt a different attitude and methods. And have considerable patience.

The 70s were more my formative years in terms of music (Ah! Roxy Music and the sometimes dubious delights of Glam-rock) - and (when I did have hair) it went from extremely long to extremely short and then oscillated a bit thereafter. Never had a feather-cut though. My musical tastes are pretty catholic now.

You've just persuaded me to change my avatar....if I can get the size of the pic I want down to 6Kb.
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

Now sold to Terry on the forum - the car was handed over yesterday halfway between us near Watford, where we had a car-park meeting of BXs for final approval.

glad its gone to a good home. was watching with interest. exactly the same model and colour as mine but a few months younger. Whats the deal with the black door frames losing their top coat of black paint in places? exactly the same on my car.. somebody's over enthusiastic cleaning at some point in the car's life, or just the plain old sun?

Maybe I'll try to put that right soon, but for now I'm just enjoying it.

You can lift the frames with a selective, but thorough repaint of the areas - as ever, the key to it seems to be preparation. It's been done on my current car (Groliffe) but Tom spent a whole day removing windows, trim, masking fairly big-time, and then spray-painting (from a can - Tempest Grey?) in order to achieve this.

For some reason (probably because it's painted on top of the standard colour on BXs), this paint nearly always fails to stick long-term. It's notable how easily it starts to transfer smudges of grey with even the small amount of friction from a polishing cloth.

If I'd had time and facilities for that treatment, I'd have done it, as the paintwork on GRC is very good indeed. Dare I say it, this fading falls into the "they all do that" category (spoken in my best Arfur Daley voice). Will need to touch it up again soon on Groliffe, to which I can now turn my undivided attention.
