But to be fair Way2go (not Waytogoo!) posted two messages about the car and was quite clearly very interested. In fairness though I think the vendor at the time should have contacted him first.
Also the £65 you paid to 'purchase' the car was actually for the road tax at the time, if I have read the advert correctly.
Making comments like 'there's always one' isn't going to help you either Mick, especially when it appears to have been aimed at probably the most respected of all the BXClub members.

Back o/t I think you'll stand nmore chance of selling it (especially on here) with it's original trim and wheels etc. I'm sure you could get some other TZD parts (interior) etc from someone on here who has had to scrap a car due to condition. Also I expect you (or the purchaser) could embark on some rust proofing around the car to help it live longer.

Agreed.

Although as per the original thread for this car, I still wonder if the body is an issue at all, I really don't think this car is a genuine Hurricane, I think it's a TZD that at some point had the wheels, interior and hatch from a Hurricane....

IF this is the case then that rights off the rotten shell arguement (well, as much as you can for any 17 year old car) so should be a nice useable car with a bit of work?

Good news if it can be saved, if not then the parts will hopefully see some more cars kept on the road....

Hurricanes are rotten ???**!!!ffff.

I have a TD Hurricane as well as a GTi of the same vintage. The Hurricane is in better nick bodywise than the GTi. There are no rust issues that I am aware of yet.

I think the Hurricane is a better looker than the GTi too. On paper the GTi is quicker but the TD feels and seems the quicker of the two.

A Hurricane or not a Hurricane, that is the question! Registered J114 CUB on 07/02/92. No mention of Hurricane anywhere on car bodywork or interior. One family owner car until me . 073000ish miles on clock. Body number painted in white on n/s A post ,5478. Body colour, metalic green. Chassis number,VF7XBEK0017EK0815. Engine number, CV360602215. V5C states Model as BX TZD TURBO HURRICANE. Engine 1769cc, [goes like a rocket]. Perhaps I will re-name it that if it is not what it says on the Logbook . Can any member confirm through their BX records if my car is indeed a Hurricane or not. Regards, Mick.

I dont have a difinitive list of chassis numbers for Hurricanes, although the indication on the V5C goes half way to confirming it is. Although it must be one of the last if it is...

I still suspect it probably isn't a genuine Hurricane, unless it had a massive rear end shunt at some point in it's past, but if that had been the case and it was repaired you'd have thought whoever repaired it would have re-fitted side pods, and probably decals since they were available till a few years ago....

hhmm.....

I think that's unlikely - the crumple zones in BXs do their job very well indeed and most likely it would have been written off if the tailgate and side pods were destroyed!

For what it's worth I suspect the V5 is correct. Why should they make a mistake like that? More likely the other way round - ie omitting the 'Hurricane' (or any special edition) name.

In which case someones gone to alot of trouble to remove the decals and pods, especially since the 1/4 wings would almost certainly have required a respray after removal.....
