Front O/S window bar

Post by Terry »

GRC has a problem with it's drivers window. I've just taken the door panel off and check it all out and the result is that the bar in which the window sits is badly rusted and no longer holding the glass straight. When it rises under power the glass jumps out of the sider runners.

Otherwise the window winding mechanism is just fine.

Anybody have one?

A repair kit is/was available.

This consists of an aluminium replacement bar and the rubber strip for the glass to sit in, funnily enough it's exactly like earlier model BXs had fitted as standard before they went onto steel ones. :-k

Not sure if I still have one or not, what I do know is, it's a lot easier to change to whole window.

I'll have a look later.
They think it's all over, it is now!

What gives up on these Ken, are we looking at the main runner that the
glass actually slides in vertically or the base of the glass that's gripped by
a horizontal runner than the motor mechanism runs on like the Gs? I've
had the guide rail that the mechanism braces off collapse on a CX which
allowed everything to go AWOL too but haven't had the inclination or
weather or time for that matter to take the door apart!

Guess this kit wouldn't be available from a Citroen Prats Department now?
