Sounds Too Good To Be True

Post by Brian »

Just casually looking for BX's, and came across this one:

Seems that there are many items that don't quite stack up on this one!!!.

Must have, according to the ad, 2 air bags.

I guess one for the driver and one for the front seat passenger who may also be in the hot heated seat!!!...But there is also a/c, which could cool the front seat passenger down a few degrees if the driver over does it..

But then, there is the sat/nav to correct, if the drive looses it !!!...

Pic looks good though, even if it is after the rain..

Heated seats were an option on BX's and SatNav could be an aftermarket fit but Twin Airbags - I don't think that could exist or otherwise would be a very dodgy retrofit! :o

Really!? Tell me more...sounds like the holy grail of retro fits if they were also leather!

Just looked at my brochures and don't have the later ones that offered the leather option and more. IIRC the seat heater switches fitted in the centre console around the handbrake. It may have only been an option once you went for leather but I'm sure others can find a brochure with it in to show you. :D

I'm not doubting you :) , the latest brochure I have is 1990 which doesn't list them. Wonder when they became available?

Actually, Ian Fearn posted a picture of Heated Leather seats as a genuine accessory here but the actual photo has been removed. :(

Are you able to re-instate the piccy for us Ian?

It's also got those lovely TZD style plastic alloys as well.

OK They got over-enthusiastic with the box ticking. Sunroof? :D

Anyway, there might be alloys as the ad states there's another set of wheels with tyres too (the ones in the pic?)... I would say, looking at it (and bearing in mind it's got a new MOT on it) - and it's a TD (apparently!), it's a very desirable BX. Especially if it does indeed have air conditioning. Not a bad price if it's in good order too. Trouble is it's bloomin' miles away

I've asked him to confirm whether it really has air con, heated seats and airbags, just to satisfy my (our?) curiosity. But as Phil said it seems like he simply ticked all the boxes!

Well, in response to my question I recieved this:
BX seller wrote:Yes there appears to be a few mistakes,

May thanks,

CeeJay
which doesn't directly answer the question, but I wouldn't hold out much hope...

It's cheap at least!

Heated seats were in fact an option with the leather. My valver has the loom in place for the heated seats, and I bought leather seats hoping all I would need was a switch......til I found out the leather seats don't have the heating elements in! :(

They were available on UK BX's though; I have a road test from What Car with a grey valver that had heated leather.

Aren't the seat heaters just a pad (like a small electric blanket) incorporating a thermostat that slips into the existing upholstery? It may be that you could get such a pad off a saab or volvo etc to suit from a scrapyard if the sizing is ok. :D
