That place is not too far from me and I might get the opportunity to visit them tomorrow to pick up some hatch struts - I could ask them about it for you

Its just conveluted (sp?) hose mate, I think it fits all XU carb models.

You can buy the stuff at most factors, assuming you know the size you want. Comes in a nicer silver too, rather than beige

This one will have a foam inner lining whereas the metalic ones do not, I'd say this is meant for the early 19D or any of the n/a 17D's

OK thanks Ken, would it fit a early petrol? I seem to remember them having similar air filters (round type)

Yes I am sure it will fit the 17RD, and it will have a foam lining to reduce the induction roar.

The one on my 17RD gave up the ghost long ago, and I replaced it with a plastic flexible tube from a Hilman Imp heater intake, but it does boom a little.

Well, the supplier of this tube is in Glasgow and today I bought a pair of inner track rod joints from them for £11 each no postage - I asked about the tube on your behalf!

He returned to the counter with the beige tube and I had a look - they confirmed that the tube is for the 17D and 19D and you guys are right - it is the foam lined type (good inch of it) so it's for the diesel.
