Twin Headlight conversion Wanted

Post by ddob »

Hi guy's,
Was just wondering if anyone knew of anybody who has a set of drivers side and passengers side twin headlight conversion for a 1987 BX19 GTi - she is an 8 valver - have friends in the UK so should be able to get them sent to them and then they can ship to New Zealand for me - I see that this conversion is popular amongst owners of these fine little beasties in the UK but I am yet to see these on anything over here in New Zealand.
Any help that you can give would be appreciatted,
Danny - from the land of the long white cloud

Good luck Danny, they're rarer than a rare thing on national rare day here. I think they were made by Morette, possibly worth keeping an eye on eBay etc.

They're still made by Morette, and can be purchased brand-spanking new, if you like that sort of thing:

/\ um, no they aint!

I did have a set that I paid, er, rather alot of money for, but I hated the way they looked on the valver, so I loaned them to my mate. He loved them, until the car commited suicide on black ice through a wall and down a ditch.
Result, one written off TZD turbo, and a mullered set of Morrettes...

But, but, but, they are! I linked to them, and everything! A guy on the XM site bought a set for his XM last year (I think).

Here's a UK site where you can actually order them:

I honestly reckon they're the best non-oe bit of kit you can fit to a BX, they look fantastic and change the appearance of the car.

Or just click through to Larkspeed and order a set. Even if Morette have discontinued them, they could well be in stock elsewhere (though the Morette site shows no sign of removing 'em!)

Yeah, and the XM set (which is triple) is getting on for 500 notes! I'd be tempted by that, given the shiteness of standard XM lights, but again, it's what I paid for the car.....

You could always get a set (or two!) of these for the front of your XM...

Headlight conversion

Post by ddob »

Hi again guy's,
Can still get them but at a cost $1100 NZDollars - Have decided on the following - can get some bmw twin headlight (cost nothing) assembly's from a mate in a wrecking yard and have another mate who is an engineer who said he will make up brackets for fitting and a set of covers (cost a bbq and a chocolate cake) so all up cost is FREE - this suits my budget better. Thanks for all your help Danny :D

I had some headlights of a BMW 730 which I was going to try and fit to another car but I'm cack handed so gave up! BMW price is £250+VAT per side for those units by the way and that's without the trims etc!
