bx needs new home
our lovely red bx turbo desiel got shunted up the rear , towbar took the brunt but boot floor pan buckled and insurance only paid out £150.00 so we can't afford to fix her. it's still driveable had spheres done march 08 and all new kunifer pipes june 08 two new tyres and would have gone through her next mot no problem. new home for her more important than money. if any body wants her we are in long melford, sudbury, essex/suffolk border

I think I should add I am potentially interested in this car for someone else who wants to take part in the BXagon, but doesn't have a BX. I will enquire if they are still interested. In the meantime if another club/forum member wants to give it a new home, don't let me stop you!

external damage is very minimal bumper cracked but had this before shunt the main damage is the two main struts which the tow bar attach to are bent down slightly and floor of boot rippled . Tow bar took all the impact luckily we were stationary at rounder about. Cam belt, spheres, 4 new kunifer pipes, new glow plugs and two new tyres all did 08. Engine good runner not Smokey and good to start first time needs a good wash and polish but other wise not bad will need battery as it was borrowed for something else.

This alone is enough to mean that the shell is scrap. The car sounds like an ideal source of good spares, but the shell should not be used on the road again. If the boot floor is rippled, then the box-sections under the floor are also bent, and that means the crumplezone has done it's job, and that's that. Any future incident with this car could be made much more serious as the structure is clearly weakened.ted n terri wrote:floor of boot rippled
If anyone has any doubts about this, ask Stuart Hedges if he would have liked the accident he was involved in to be any more severe than it was. His BX rear crumplezone saved him. Had it already been pre-damaged, it may not have done.

To add to David's post: I once owned a TGD Turbo hatch that had suffered a rear-ended shunt after some years of service by the previous and then given a professional rebuild on insurance. The rebuild was extensive.
It had a complete new boot floor and rear valance at the very least - and I suspect some straightening of other rear bodywork was also required.
before this work could take place.

Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.
