I don't think a normal licence covers you for trailers these days.
When I passed, I could drive 7.5 tonners, minibuses etc but that's all changed now.
Personally I think you should have to take a special test if you feel the need to lower your car so it scrapes the ground and fit so much bodykit that you can't even tell what it is anymore!

I have hired and towed car trailers twice, neither time did anyone question my licence, although they did look at it.
I cant check licence at the moment as it is away being endorsed by the local CPS.
Thats odd Ian. Can i tow a car trailer? Im assuming as we are the same age we passed our tests at the same time you see.I don't think a normal licence covers you for trailers these days.

There's a comprehensive booklet published by the DVLA - D100 is the one you need I think.
Its about 40 pages and comes as a PDF. If you can understand it you've done better than I have and I'm supposed to be learning it as part of my ADI course!
It will come as no surprise that I'm not prepared to try and interpret it at the moment!

Hi
Yes, it was a couple of years after I passed in 95 that they started clamping down on things.
Personally, I think it's a little scary that with no experience at all, I can jump into a 7.5 ton lorry and go for a drive!
Well, I say no experience - I have driven Tanks, two buses, a coach and a 12 litre AEC military six wheel tow truck! (not on the road though!)

I think I passed in 2001? unsure but I have driven with trailers loads, car trailers, box trailers, old caravans that are now trailers, minibuses, vans and even a nottingham park and ride coach! (not on the road)its easy so i dont see why you need a logo on your license to prove you can! reversing the trailer onto the drive is easy even with car twice the length or the trailer (CX)
I might d the test/appliction this year since im fitting the 16v with a towbar.

Hi vanny,
Yes im intrested in moving the car on but because me and my dad own a share in it each i have to agree the same with him which is he will accep no less than £400 for it. As you know we now have the triton green 16v and at present i have got it in bits im currently in the process of undersealing it and cleaning up the underside as done previously with the red 16v and blue 8v. I would be a bonus to move the 8v on as then we could tax ind sort some insurance out for the green one witch is nearly ready for the road

Vanny, take it this is the one you were talking about last night mate? I got slightly more after I spoke to you and it`s all a bit of a haze now
I`m pretty sure I could sort out Macc to Derby, I have a straight bar and a mate has a towing dolly.
If there`s no huge rush I think my truck will be back otr within a month (all being well) and that would be much the best option I believe.
The other way would be to `RAC` it, shouldn`t be to difficult or there`s another option which may be best talked about by pm
