The 'door open' switch is located physically inside the door lock motor.

Your problem will likely be a break in the wiring between the door and the car.

Whereabouts is it positioned? Also shouldn't the bonnet show up when open on the display also?

Where abouts is the door lock motor positioned? In the door, near the lock, connected to the lock by a short metal rod.

And I take it the bonnet should show up on the display as there is a wire going to the display for it according to the wiring diagram explanation that was kindly given.

With the bonnet open display, you need to work through the circuit.

First check the bulb, a 9v battery, with short leads helps. Remove the switch, check to see if this operates, open and closed. Then check continuity of the cable - bonnet to display unit, pin 7. You should? have a circuit. On the rear of the display unit where the bulb holder locates, check to verify connection with the two half-moon copper contacts. One section should be + supply, the opposing section should be too pin 7,
and confirm the bulb holder contacts are making a connection when installed into the display unit.
The above operation applies to all the other display operating circuits.

ignore that the text on the screen is not in english, the links are. The top link is to the electrical diagrams in the Haynes manual.
