Exhaust Gas Recycling

Has anyone had any success with an XM EGR valve on a BX TD engine?

Maybe this is a stupid question...

/\ what they said!
Why on earth would you want to fit EGR to a BX? Or any car for that matter....
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

I was under the impression that they recycle unburnt fuel. That surely can't be a bad thing?

I thought they recycled carbons & gases so they can be re-burnt reducing emissions further... at least that was my understanding when they fitted it to the old Ford OHV lump to make it last a few more years (mainly in the KA)...
I have zero patience for your tedium.

I know of a three year old Mazda with an EGR valve. With the valve connected the car cuts out usually at high speed, without the valve it runs just fine. EGR is a bad idea, i could probably find hundreds of people in the UK who have removed theres!

FWIW, I've removed the EGR system from several cars belonging to friends and, in each case, the fuel economy/power output improved markedly.

This seems strange, because the idea of the EGR system is to reduce the amount of pollutants a given engine emits. It's just that, with EGR, a car burns more fuel (thus producing more emissions) to try and generate less emissions .......................

Was this idea developed in Dublin by any chance?
