Possible to make raised suspension softer??
so what sort of ride hight correction does the pug have for its rear end,
i had always thought these pugs had just a BX rear sub frame,

2 reasons spring to mind - 1st, even hydraulic suspension on the rear only makes for a smoother ride, which is why some H van ambulances were built this way.I really don't understand the logic of a hydraulic system just for the rear of a 405? why not use conventional springs?
2nd, from PSA's point of view, it was probably easier to base a self levelling rear suspension on technology they already knew about than to use a self levelling shock absorber system like the ones used by BL on the SD1 & Range Rover & Ford on some Sierras. Anyone who (like me) loads their cars up with heavy gear regularly knows how much better any self levelling system is in these conditions.

Ok, its smoother riding, but there are plenty of 2wd 405's that only have springs, so why does it matter with the 4x4? Thats the bit i don't understand, surely the 4x4 system doesnt mean that it only works with rear hydraulic suspension & surely the standard front springs mated to a hydraulic system at the rear make the car extremly unbalanced from a suspension balance point of view?

Tis true, I've been stopped twice in my diesel at customs, and both times was told they are the best smuggling car in the world.
Having watched exactley where they looked in and under my car I now of course know exactley where to stash all those illicit drugs!
Odd thing though, I got stopped on the way TO France both times, never on the way back..

Well, in the heater box, in the body kit, under the rear seat, in the instrument binnacle, above the glovebox, int he centre console are but a few places I noted they never looked.
But they did take my bass bin to bits to have a look in there, and then broke it.

About 14 years ago IIRC customs were stopping quite a few 2CV's coming back from the Dutch world meeting. Apparently at the time 2CV's with aftermarket galvanised chassis were being used for smuggling as you could unscrew the bottom chassis plate in order to fill the space between the rails with watever you were bringing in.

I looked this up a few months back out of interest and the subframe looks the same as mine but with some added axtras, as you all say.
A mate told me they had something in the boot or something that can move the ride height? Is that right?
