Choice of engine oil

Next job will be an oil change. Does anyone have a specific brand/spec of engine oil they would recommend for a diesel.

I've always just chucked in any cheap mineral 15w40 I can get my hands on. As long as you change the oil every 6000 miles, can't see the point in using anything fancy. I'd be tempted to use at least a semi-synth in a turbo diesel, just because turbos get very hot.

I use semi snyth in all my motors, its VW own brand which I get for £12 for 5 litres.
