Pipe-flaring tools
Pipe-flaring tools
Do I need a pipe-flaring set? Machine Mart sell a kit for J30 or so, and I know Pleaides do one. Is it worth buying?
I suppose a more relevant question is "Do I expect to fabricate my own replacement pipes soon?"
When can we expect to have to make up new pipes for the car?

I was looking into the possibility of making my own pipes recently, anticipating the possibility of an MOT pipes failure.
Some tool vendors do cater for the special Citroen flares and pipe sizes, for example
http://www.bennetts.com/tools/vehiclese ... ntId=41965
http://www.bennetts.com/tools/vehiclese ... egoryId=47
These prices seem a bit inconsistent, £5.65 / 3.5mm, but £40.79 / 4.5mm ??? I wonder if the expensive one includes a flaring kit ?
One problem is that the 3.5mm CuNi only seems to come in 50m rolls at about £65. Does anyone know if it is available anywhere in the more usual 25 foot roll at about £8 as for ordinary brake pipe ?
It seems that you need not one but two of the little square flaring tools, one for 3.5mm and one for 4.5mm. Are these actually made by Citroen ?
If so, does anyone know the p/n and price ?
Here are some GSF prices:-

I take your point but these things are made in very small quantities. They probably take on average about 2 hours to make each one, plus the tooling costs, plus the material costs so in all i dont think 54quid is too bad when you consider my local landrover dealer has just cracked the 100quid mark for an hours labour!ellevie wrote:Nice photo Ian.
They cost £54 each at the moment. Costly little devils aren't they !?
