XUD 9 cooling
XUD 9 cooling
The Red Baron has had another incontinence problem this time with water down the back of the engine unfortunately i'm restricted to over the fone type diagnosis as I'm nowhere near the car. Am I right in thinking the diesel is similar to the petrol and has a metal pipe from the water pump to the right hand of the engine running along the back of the block, do the bxs have water fuel heaters like the xantias I cant see it being the head XUDs tend not to suddenly fall apart

Re: XUD 9 cooling
They do have the fuel heater, and they're usually brittle & crap by now. To my recollectiion they don't have the steel pipe, no.
I have zero patience for your tedium.

Re: XUD 9 cooling
Uh oh! Never dropped water before Hope it's a simple fix. A similar thing happened to a Volvo I had once. Used a length of copper pipe (after cutting out the holed part of a rubber hose) and it was fine. Hope the Red Baron isn't getting all awkward! Kermit and I didn't experience a problem on the Challenge with anything.

Re: XUD 9 cooling
Don't worry, Red Baron isn't alone, because Timex has just done the same thing I think
Been out and about today - first to Warners in Gloucester to pick up a strut return pipe just before their parts system crashed , then Fed-Ex to collect a parcel, followed by a trip to Hereford to buy a new set of pipes for the Varadero, at which point the intermittent starter issue started to become a permanent one . Now starts by shorting a couple of contacts on the solenoid, so I suspect more a wiring issue than the starter itself.
After Hereford it was back to Warners to see if their system was fixed (it wasn't), before heading across to Clarkes in Stroud for a flasher unit (1 job off the list ). Shortly after setting off for home, the red light of doom came on so I pulled over to find the system low on water and the fan not running (has worked but now need to double check). Let her cool down, topped her up, and she fired up with no signs of head issues and drove home ok. Unfortunately there's now water running from behind the engine onto what I assume is the engine stabiliser mount .

Re: XUD 9 cooling
Thats exactly the same problem red baron has I was in it last night doesnt leak if you take the radiator cap off so suspect its a heater hose with a split. It is going to become a geordie on friday I will fetch it up south shields to investigate as daughter dear has decided she likes the RE better so Im going to use the diesel.

Re: XUD 9 cooling
Yep, managed to get a look at mine while it was on the ramp at Tony Weston's today (forgot the camera though ). The heater pipe has split at the end, plus the short piece joining to the steel pipe across the back of the engine isn't looking clever. I've ordered the short piece from Citroen, but the heater hose is NFP
