Need a new TZD!
Oh Lord, why so cruel? My pride and joy, K reg Red TZD, in excellent order, got T-boned Outside York Railway Museum on Friday. Straight on the centre post. It looks terminal! Both passanger doors are jammed shut and the car looks a little worse for wear on the nearside. It's entireley on the other guy, without dispute, it's all on cctv, so I'll soon be looking for another TZD. If anyone knows a good to excellent one that may be for sale soon, please let me know. Meanwhile I've got to put up with a new Mondeo!! I want a BX!! Cheers all.

Might be just the ticket? Looks very tidy; rare original wheel-trims and very little rust by the look of it. At under 500 quid I'd be whizzing over there tomorrow if was after a decent TZD.

^ Rob Moss is selling this car, it does need some work - as described - which he would do if it would pay him to do so, but the mileage on the car means that he wouldn't get return on investment. Well worth having a chat to him about.

Re: Need a new TZD!
Greetings. I went and bought the bx tzd in Hitchin. Needs 400 quids-worth of paint to get it looking something like, ho hum! However I'm going to get the salvage on Katie, (Katies Muff. K81'5 MUF) so I know I've got a good engine! When I drove it back from Hitchin it seemed awful slugish compared to Katie. Perhaps the turbo isn't working. Oh well, onwards!

Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....
Re: Need a new TZD!
i presume the Hitchin car is a TD as i i have seen a non turbo'd TZD
a diesel referbisher used to work at the local LSUK, used to say never use injector cleaner as it is abrasive,
i belive a Mexican tune up is all they need if everything else is in good order and correctly set up

Re: Need a new TZD!
Abrasive or erosive? Not sure I can quite believe the former of a liquid chemical unless its from carbon/crude particulates that have been thus loosened by its actions. How else do you get rid of the crude if you cannot loosen it short of mechanical removal and service? If I knew the sods would come out easy I would do it my self, but you hear horror stories.
My own turbo D is tardy. I am waiting for the new cambelt before investigating as it could be a number of things, even being resolved by doing the cambelt, if its timings out. Knowing it has lacked servicing for a spell means it is likely crudded up. So its due new oil again shortly even though it has done very little mileage. I bet there will be crap in that. Also short changed fuel filter. I could have grown mustard and cress off the old air filter! Poor bugger must have been struggling for oxygen. Got to be carbon in the system.

on taking a diesel car to an MOT i knock it into second gear and floor it for a few second each time, 2 to 3 times,
as a diesel being driven solely round town between MOT's gets sooted up, so need a good clear out every now and then,
i dont remember when i had the last diesel fail the smoke test at a MOT

Re: Need a new TZD!
are you aware of the issue with the overfueling device, pretty crucial getting the extra fuel in for the power. My old TZD steadily lost power after i bought it. Checked the little hose from the turbo to the fuel pump was blasting a burst of air out of it when engine revved - it was, so turbo working, but it was not having any effect as the little rubber diaphragm in the fuel pump's 'over-fuelling' device (what gives you the turbo power) was perished and not responding to the air pressure from the turbo. Easy fix for a local diesel specialist for €80. I lived with it like that for an age before rooting them out and couldn't believe the difference, it became a rocket ship.
So if you know anywhere that might recondition diesel fuel pump systems they'd probably be able to sort it. Most of this place's business in Dublin was obviously with trucks and vans, so you could ask around truck van servicing places for some leads, as i don't think there are many about.
Anyway check that little hose about 25cm long - unclip it from the front of the fuel pump (mine was a Lucas) and check there is a whoosh of air coming out of it when you rev the engine. If so take it to one of those diesel specialists, they'll whip the fuel pump out and sort it hopefully.
