Stratford: Spannering for beer...
Being that the only free weekend i've been able to get in months is being spent at Stratty, i've just not had time to do anything, let alone the work i desperately need to do to the Athena and MOT is due on the 11th September. Especially as it's now gone back to being my daily drive after the sale of the rest of the fleet!
They're all minor jobs in themselves, but when you have ZERO free time they're an un-climbable mountain!
So if anyone fancies assisting over the weekend in exchange for being plied with lots of propur Cornish Ale, i need to fit:
Front discs & pads
Rear pads
1 front strut leak-off pipe
New rear silencer
All assistance greatly appreciated!
I have all the parts sat here (have done for months)

Re: Stratford: Spannering for beer...
I'll gladly give you a hand, but you'd better not ply me with any of that nasty beer stuff!
Re: Stratford: Spannering for beer...
I would gladly help but too far away. However, in a couple of years i hope to be in your neck of the woods.

Re: Stratford: Spannering for beer...
This is a great idea and could benefit other owners who want to know how these jobs are done but I would reconsider the offer of the ramps for the rear silencer?

Re: Stratford: Spannering for beer...
Won't need the ramps for the silencer, tis a 10 minute job on me back with the suspension up.
It currently has my Valver back box on which i want to save (and i have a new spare here).
I should point out, it's not that i can't do these things, i've done them all loads of times and none of them are difficult, it's just the sheer lack of time

Re: Stratford: Spannering for beer...
Builder chum was telling me last week that his Special Friend's uncle was found with a broken neck under his Citroen. His wife had seen him under it. Several hours later kicked his legs before finding the truth and panicsville. All to late of course but he would have suffocated from the weight on his chest pretty quick . Is not worth the risk, specially on unmade ground.
Mind you we could have a bloody good raffle for the Athena .

Re: Stratford: Spannering for beer...
The truth is, i rarely use props under the BX unless i'm working on a safety critical part.
After 15 years working on these things, like many people, i'm fully aware of the risks and precautions.
The reality is, the likelihood of a BX/CX/XM etc. suddenly slamming to the ground is so infinitesimal it's considerably more likely that Prince Philip will pop round for a chat about "that Hitler chap" over a couple of kegs of Tribute!
But, if you're tampering with the suspension or things you know nothing about the odds rise.
