MOT for Athena
MOT for Athena
Finally got the green light for the Athena. She has had the rear subframe mount area(s) rewelded properly and along with new fuel pipes, Cunifer long runs etc managed a Pass!. Still a few niggles to sort, will need new discs and pads within a month, fan switch has suddenly thrown a wobbly and the hole in the boot side....
The guy working on it charged 300 for all the subframe welding including new back of sills (and short length of one), which is not too bad. As Defender has noted, this can kill many a BX, which is a shame if the rest of the car is reasonable. As I should get at least another year plus out of the car, I'm very pleased to be back driving her.
When I last looked there were only 4 taxed Athenas', mine , JayW's, some guy in Norfolk, and one other, possibly the blue one that appeared near Cambridge in for sale ads.
Just happy to be driving something nice again!

Thanks Tim and Andy. I checked again, there are only two taxed Athenas' left, so getting quite rare.

Me too Might be an idea to have a good look underneath before parting with any money though.
Re: MOT for Athena
But that one has the added wind deflector for the sunroof....
Looks pretty good otherwise. There are a nominal 6 SORN'd ones so that could be one of them.

This has been left in a field to rot ? Or has it just been put there for the picture.
Shame if it has been left there.

It's been left there Gary - and has probably been there for a few years. It looks pretty good on top but a few years on wet grass and it's anybody's guess what's going on underneath. It's a pity because Athena's are lovely and now very very rare.Gary wrote:Paul296 wrote:Tim Leech wrote:I know where there's another which is for sale but needs tlc.

Bodes well for mine going up for sale in the spring!
I have zero patience for your tedium.
