Regenerating metallic paintwork
As the heading suggests, what is the best thing to do to bring metallic (silver) paintwork back to it's bright best? My estate's roof in particular. There're lots of swirly scratches in the surface from years of cleaning/wiping so I wondered if metallic T-Cut was a good starting point?

They are generally a lacquered finish, or at least my old Mk1 was, it was pointless polishing that car, just shampoo was enough to bring it up bright and shiny, I suppose modern T cut is not as agressive as T cut of old and might be safe? Tim is probably the clubs car polishing expert really

I bought a Silver Blingo which had a badly scratched roof pannel caused by a green flashing lamp on a magnetic base - whilst T cut did ease the worst of the scratching the local valeting / repair shop said the laquer coat was too far gone to rejuvinate and needed respraying.
This I may do in the summer and remove the old PMR twig whilst I am at it. Then again as the roof is so high and I cant really see it, I may not!

T-Cut's a good place to start, or failing that get it mopped.
