Hmmm... Would I want a tatty low spec red 16 petrol estate, with most of its vital fluids leaking out all over the road, and a knackered boot.
Not even if it was free and came with a full tank of fuel. (which of course it can't, as it would leak most of that all over the road. ) and I can't imagine anyone wanting it TBH. Definitely worth more as a cube methinks.

Recent scruffy diesel n/a estate - "The Red Shed" - is no longer mine. - x 9
Hey, it's an estate (rear bumpers virtually unchanged to the end) - it's got 5 months ticket and I've seen '87 cars that have less corrosion than the 92/93s. £40 for something with MOT?
Most of these problems are due to loose bolts in the locking/latching area.
It's most likely a goer for someone prepared to do the work.
Not a lot to be done about it if the problem is the tank itself except replace it - if someone's been working on the sender and not retightened properly then it'll stink of petrol for sure, and slosh out on filling. A quick look under the rear seats should confirm.Fuel tank leaks when over about 3/4 full (which means the car smells of petrol)
Could be almost anything - only way to find out is to identify where it's coming from.Hydraulic fluid leaks from underneath. Suspension works, but needs to be topped up every couple of weeks. Parts are cheap, but it's a fiddly job that takes a good few hours."
Boot doesn't lock/close properly

Sender unit probably furred up inside - seen this plenty of times, unless the seller's beiung economical with the truth.Coolant level light comes on, even though it's got plenty of coolant.
No arguments here - but that red will almost certainly polish up.Interior is ok - slightly dirty but no rips/tears etc
Body work tatty - see photos

Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

Absolutely. Had this car come up with a good polish for £125, it would be a rare bargain. Leak is a return hose (it ain't HP for sure) so that's cheap. The bootlid wants a look at and it is forty quid for a winter's driving and £100 worth of spares. Wake up and smell the coffee, guys. This one's a good deal in a shabby coat. I've restored worse in a couple of weekends.

Right on the money David. Why on earth would anyone want to spend any time or dosh on that? I could understand about three quid as that should buy enough petrol, a box of matches and twenty pence for the phone call to the scrap fella to collect it. Also if you did set it alight you could save plenty of time and energy by NOT pissing on it. It wouldn't be worth it.DavidRutherford wrote:Hmmm... *Kudos to the seller for an honest listing though.

There is soooo little information in the ad, that it could be sweet as fuck.............or it could be a bitch! Until you've actually SEEN the car it's a risk.........................period. Wether it smells of coffee or not is a different matter, I'd want to see the car and do my own inspection. There's no mention of service history for fucks sake. So how it can be a bargain is beyond me.....unlesstom wrote:Absolutely. Had this car come up with a good polish for £125, it would be a rare bargain. 1) you 'love' the car and want to restore it for the sake of it (so £££££s don't really enter the equation) in which case the word 'bargain' doesn't come into it!!! or
2) Your are the God and sorcerer of all BX wisdom and blaa blaa blaa...etc
If you have the cash and knowledge, then fair game and fair car 'IF' you are prepared for the risks, otherwise...........our survey says uh-uh

I like coffee! Alot.. As long as it's Alta Rica, I dont drink naff coffee.
I wouldn't bother with it just because it's got an XU5 under the bonnet..
That and with the amount I smoke I'd die in a ball of flames driving it home...

Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!
Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
