So, why can't you insure it? I don't intend to be insulting/nosey, but is it a case of not being able to afford to insure it?
If it is, sell it/them. They are doing nothing for you there.
Sitting around doing nothing for any significant time will hasten the degradation of it/them.

I can't afford it but hopefully I will be able to, the unfair thing is that they charge more for people that can't afford to pay in full.
Tried getting temp cover but as usual you have to be 25 because as we all know, I am a boy racer and that's why I drive a BX.
There is no way I'd sell my N reg BX because of money issues! I've had quite a few cars now for my age and I would like to keep this one for a bit longer. That and it's special, and in really good condition.
I just tried getting quotes again, on a different comparison site and the most expensive was ... wait for it ... £11,133.45!!! Obviously being unemployed makes me a really bad driver, I have the scum that drive around Didcot in their Escorts and Corsas to thank for that

Why dont you try getting classic car insurance with a limited mileage policy, that may work out quite a bit cheaper, i used Adrian Flux & got my gti insured fully comp for £118 with a 1500 mile limit, even came with free windscreen chip repair as well.
Also try Routen Chaplin, they've always seemed to have come up trumps for me, £175 fc for my txd. Ok, i'm older than you, but if you dont try you wont find out. I dont bother with the comparison sites anymore as they generally dont do insurance for anything less than £250 as its not really making much money for them otherwise.
As for paying it monthly, all insurance charges you more, normally approx an extra 10%, but again this does vary according to the insurer.....

No idea about age as being 25 isnt relevant to me anymore Probably worth trying anyway as that will be one of the 1st questions they ask.
If thats an issue, then try Routen Chaplin, however as you are now unemployed unfortunately your premiums will be higher. The reasoning behind this is that as you arent working you will have more access to your car??? Quite how they figure you can afford to drive thousands of miles a week (when you have no income), all within your overal mileage allowance anyway, its just more insurance bullshit if you ask me.
Its a bit like no fault claims, apparently as someone has crashed into you, you are now at a higher risk of it happening again, more insurance bullshit..... Its no wonder thousands dont bother with insurance......

EON never used to have an age limit on classic policies.
Certainly I insured my ambulance with them on a classic policy when I was 17.
That said, it was a few years ago now so things may be different, although to this day they are by far the most helpful people I've ever dealt with in terms of insurances.

Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!
Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

EON don't appear to do car insurance ... tried all of the mentioned companies and none would offer me a classic insurance quote. The best I can find is around £1300 which is complete bullshit because I have my no claims and it's SUPPOSED to make a difference!
More recommendations welcome as I can try them, but it's not looking good and I'm beginning to get pissed off.
I can insure my car for a year, but being the OWNER AND KEEPER I can't get temp cover on my own car?! The system needs a re-think.

Tourist, I'm afraid that you're going to have to reconcile yourself with paying through the nose for insurance purely down to your age and the insurance group of your BX (8 IIRC). When I had my first BX I was about 22, and remember the cost of insurance was one of the factors which led to me only keeping it a year.

Well, you say that although a lot of the pipes aren't octopused they still decided to mould rubber around the pipes to keep them all together don't they as I found out when looking for a new LHM pump supply pipe.CitroXim wrote:Don't worry Tim, it's just marking it's territoryRoverman wrote:Oh dear, my 16TRS has done the same thing this morning and has left a pool of LHM on th drive
