It is a shame Tim, you're right. This was one BX I always admired when I saw the pictures of it and is my favourite colour too.

what a real shame,im trying to save my tatty 19RD Auto from the scappies, but if good one's are being scraped, whats the point in keeping the 19rd!
the best bet for this car is to make the dealer an offer, and take it away quick!
my dad had a CX DTR2, p/x it, lovly car, rust free, never been back on the rd, sure they just scrapped it!

I suppose that the older trade-ins are parked at the back and then sent as a job lot to the crusher with no attempt to sell them on first?

Not all, if its MOTed and tidy they most probably have a "trader" that buys them, we have. Some dealers sent all old cars to the auction, even a non bxer will see that this car is not scrap fodder and probably send it to the local auction house and get whatever they can. Heres hoping!

Source of a gazillion local paper, internet and eBay ads - and a group who will be affected in significant ways by scrappage, I'd have thought.
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

the car has now been withdrawn from offer, The original deal to buy an 07 plate car fell through however we have now bought a brand new 09 plate car on order to be delivered in 3 weeks. We have taken advantage of the governments £2000 scrap allowance deal and have got £1000 of brand new list price plus £1000 for the bx which unfortunatly means its the end of the road for the car. The deal is done and the paperwork signed. The bx will be destroyed in 3 weeks and can not be offered for parts or salvage.

no one steped in to save it so im afraid thats the way it is.

Well, £2,000 is £2,000.

Can we ask what you bought with the taxpayer's help? (Not having a dig - given the scheme is there I can't really blame you for taking advantage of it!)

Is there any way you can take off the doors before it goes to be scrapped Rob? I don't believe that you have to have doors for a car to be driven anywhere... Alternatively how about taking them off when it's actually at the dealers?

As I know of someone who would really benefit!

How about I swap you the decent doors for the bent ones?

That means the car is still complete, and you can still trade it in...

Likewise I'll swap you the decent tyres for 4 bald ones.....
