slowly, carefully and with help (which i can provide next week). Take all head rests out, take parcel shelf out, remove A, B and C pillar trims (you could get away with leaving A, but they are uber fragile and will get trashed. Remove sunroof control panel and motor if fitted (i dont think you HAVE to remove the motor, but i would strongely advise it if you like skin attached to arms etc). there are metal rails front and aft that hold the edges of the material flush. If memory serves you need to bend these out a bit (certainly the rear one anyways), i recommend using a plasterers trowel (you can get them for pennies in Toolstation). Then remove the roof grab handles (floppy ones have balnking plates either end under the handle, solid ones the middle pops out, and whare not fitted remove the plastic cover. The bolts are something like T45 TORX. As you remove these you need a friend to help, start at one end and support the panel, the whole roof panel is very heavy. Make sure to open the tail gate as that is how its going out of the car, is should drop happily with all 4 handles removed. And thats it, you can rest it on the seat backs if your on your own!

There's two more torx bolts by the C pillar trim that need to come out, also, open the sunroof (or remove the glass) and you'll find two little screws that go into the front lip of the sunroof flange in the roof, they ned to be removed aswell, otherwise you'll rip the guttering off the front of the lining.
Also, bear in mind the front end is stuck to the roof with "superglupe" so sometimes needs a gentle tug to release.
You can do ythem on your own, I've done a few on my tod now, but it's ALOT easier with a willing helper.

Ooer...this get me thinking about the justification I used to trot out for having a spare BX around (space permitting) along the following lines:
It's always useful to refer back to the spare to see where things should go, and to have something to practise on.
Seems like I'm advocating polygamy - or a bit on the side.

Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

"i've got a b1oody annoying rattle above the passenger side sunvisor. "
They all do that (sun-roof models).
It will be the wires to the motor and the aeriel.
Wrap some foam rubber round the wires to cure the rattle.

slight hi-jack of this thread, apologies Ian.
Today i used my sunroof, it was making a slightly groan noise when putting it onto tilt only (i presmumed it just needed re-greasing) & then there was a louder noise (can't describe it), however, i noticed that only one side tilted up.
Does that mean one of the cables has snapped? If so, can someone advise on how to replace it please? I'm a bit concerned now as the sunrooof isnt quite as flush a fit as it was & if it pisses down, well you get the picture

The sunroof is designed to leak in normal operation! That's why it has drainage channels and the four gutter down pipes. So long as your down pipes are clear and draining properly you should be OK & have time to fix your cable/linkage.MULLEY wrote:I'm a bit concerned now as the sunrooof isnt quite as flush a fit as it was & if it pisses down, well you get the picture

As far as i'm aware they're clear, only reason for concern is that it will be letting water in at a much higher volume than normal & the car is parked at an angle & dont want a wet mouldy car
