Sadly, a 1.6 petrol is unpopular in any pre 2001 car.

With the bx, the 1.6 carb uses as much fuel as a 1.9 GTI, and costs the same to tax.

Plus the GTI has better equipment and kerb appeal.

I agree that BX owners to tend to fall into 2 categories.

I do like all BXs- but if I can only own one it will be a 16v.
