I've just re-read the whole thread. I hadn't spotted the bit about scarecrow actually buying the car & then it was him posting the piccy of it, i thought he was just posting a piccy from the seller

Well done for oilman for reading through the confused statements

So then, is it a nice car scarecrow? Price is only worth what someone is prepared to pay, i'm just tight & would only have offered scrap value for a car without mot & having been off the road for 3yrs regardless of mileage & condition, unless i really wanted it & the seller didnt budge on price, then perhaps

Either way, if its a really nice one then even at that price its a bargain, getting rarer by the day.

^^ I agree with you Mulley (but it is blue!), and I understand that most of my threads rapidly succumb to atrophy....

Thanks for the bonnet offer Tim. Looking beneath the veil of dust the coachwork appears very good indeed, The only rust I have found is in one inner front wing. Mechanically, the engine is quite tappety - but it performed fine on the 60mile trip home. Oh, and it needs the front spheres replacing. I'm as nervous about the MOT test today as I was last week having my teeth drilled.

An old log book shows the first keeper to have been Citroen UK - so it might have been a demo car? Maybe I'll contact Citroen to see what they say. To cap it all the chap who bought it from Citroen must have been a submariner (WW2) according to some windscreen stickers - I'll look into that a bit more when I get the car back.

Having slept on it, I really like this car - I love the lightness of it and the performance compared to my diesel - and it could be more economical to run to boot.

I got in pretty quick Sdesal - it did need the petrol pump replacing but the chap who tried to buy the car before told the vendor that it would cost £200 to replace! Cost me a tenner and about 20mins to swap.

I'll post some 'after' piccys once it's been "recommissioned".

The tappets are hydraulic on these cars I think, so probably a good oil change and an italian tune up may quieten them down. The little 1.4 TU engine is surprigly nippy and a doddle to work. Like any car thats been standing for a while get that cambelt changed!

Passed its MOT today with no advisories!

Tappets will be done on Friday.

Congrats scarecrow, sounds like you've got a right bargain & i think olympic blue is about one of the best colours evah

Just look foward to seeing some piccies once you've given the car a wash, hopefully the paintwork will be in good nick underneath all that dust.

Very comfortable accommodation I'd say. I've rarely felt such a sense of freedom as when I lived in my BX for a few weeks. Having easy access to a toilet and power shower helped things along too!
