Sadly the pictures aren't displaying properly - is anyone else having this problem?
Yes - I thought it was my bone-idle ISP or my naff BT line which struggles to achieve 5 Kb/s - obviously something else this time !

I hadn't realised that anyone was having problems with the pictures not displaying. I'm moving them to Picasaweb as I type this, so hopefully that'll be solved.

It doesn't matter how this is phrased - it still makes me think about Konnie Huq - which is good - thanks :D
That's mammarically SUPER :) She is lovely, that's for sure. (sigh)

Never seen these - but are they polycarb or acrylic? Reason for question - acrylic is strange stuff - I normally suggest cleaning practically everything with IPA - but acrylic is a no-no - IPA seems to release some of the strains within the material and you end up with a crazed mess - usually almost as strong but definitely a mess !
They're acrylic. Why I've been saying polycarbonate I don't know....

An update:

Post by rayfenwick »

Sorry for the delay in the progress report - I've not really done much to be honest - money has prevented the plans of having the BX on the road for The National at Gaydon, and the Midlands Rally this weekend.

Absolutely nothing has been done to the car, but that may be all about to change - the tax on the XM runs out at the end of this month, and I've decided to take the opportunity to get the BX road legal and the XM safely off the road away from the local kids and their handlebars, footballs etc. The BX can brave it because it needs a respray anyway :)

SO... the plan then:

Phil Chidlow's got an octopus for me, and I need to sort out a couple of tires for the MOT. As I understand it the driveshaft has to come off to do the octopus (I've not looked under the car, so don't blame me if I'm talking bollocks....) and so a new balljoint will be needed also. Other than that things don't look bad, and I reckon once those things are sorted she'll sail through the MOT.

Later I'll look for 2 decent passenger-side doors (Richard? :) ) and then get it resprayed, although that'll have to wait a bit I think.

Trim wise, I could do with a parcel shelf clip, and I think there's a (paper?) cold air tube that goes from the passenger wing front to the air intake (or is it for the heater/ventilation system. Oh, and I haven't sorted the rust on either the wheels or the sunroof :$

So, not much of a progress report I suppose, but I'm (fairly) confident that she'll be on the road in less than 4 weeks, which is great news. :)

It doesn't have to, but it makes life easier. Depends whether you have slim girly hands or not...

When i sold it to ray that rear wing was alot worse with sticky tape over big gaping holes in it.The bloke who i got it off had just run it till the Mot had expired then didnt have the cash or inclination to do anything with it.
I bought it really to stop it going to the crusher but i dont really like automatics.Glad to know Ray is getting her sorted out and looking good again.

The guy you mention (unless there was another owner 'in between') was actually given the car free, because he needed help getting out of the rut caused by his history with - God knows what - mental health issues, drugs etc. I was freely given the car by Tim, and then, as opposed to getting a train to pick up my Ph.2 16v, I drove it over and handed it over believing it was going to a good cause/home. Again for free.

What a poor lost soul that car became. How cynically used (sorry!  ) but what is notable is just how well that car drove. It was sweeeet.

Glad it lives. This time for real.

I thought I recognized this car ,

I saw it at the goodwood festival of speed a couple of years ago
( in the camping field not on the track lol).

My dad and I chatted to the owner, ( His name was Richard ) The guy said he had been given it free by a guy called Mick who used to have a grey 16 valve
( is he on here?)
this Mick had also owned two gti's and a trs manual.

Funnily enough it turns out I have met this Mick because his niece was at college with me ( shes just about to start her third year ) and have been to his house in Milton Keynes with Charlotte ( his niece).

I heard from Richard about a year ago and he had sold the bx to buy an escort .

What a small world

No - Tim, Mick was the guy I bought the grey valver from! And the one I gave the 19TRS to... Anyway, it would seem the car did its job and it's good to have it back in the fold, so to speak. Less than can be said for the 16v!
