Well, I can't claim to have done it internationally as a bookseller I used to deliver large quantities of books regularly in two successive BXs. The only mishaps I can remember had nothing to do with me. We used to employ a powerfully built gentleman of "advancing years" for some deliveries, who broke off an indicator stalk and then a gearstick.
Occasionally constrained by geography. When not driving, can rely on ferry, two wheels and musclepower when a couple of miles as the crow flies would become a round-road-trip ten times the distance.
