dash lights - LED's?

Has anyone tried replacing the standard incandescent wedge globes in the dash with LED's, like this one:

Question is why? I mean how often do you replace dashboard bulbs in the life of the car? If they work out cheaper than the original spec then yes I can see a reason otherwise what gain?

Thanks for the link. I remembered some discussion about this a while ago and searched for it but couldn't find.

The reasons why - they cost the same but last much longer, and you can now get some cool colours.
