See, I knew I should have done some research before selling to the first caller...

To be honest I'm just glad to see it go to someone who'll put it to good use.

And hopefully one day karma will be kind to me and I'll find a pair of estate rear side compartment doors for a few quid....

On second thoughts, that'd probably need a full-on miracle...

On the subject of accessories etc, anyone else got one of the stress-relieving squidgy foam hydraulic spheres they used to give to dealers? Mine gets a lot of use!

How much did you sell it for then Kev? How about a bit of guzumping? Or fight to the death between the rabid Bxers for the box? The 'foamy sphere' sounds interesting - never seen one of those..

The estate doors do turn up. Three sets on Ebay.de in the last four years!

That's usually the way. I'm glad to have got a bargain, though in fairness I didn't know they were rare or particularly valuable. Kev named a price, I agreed. Sometimes I get bargains, sometimes I get stung. Usually I pay the right money, so that proves that theory. :)

I will indeed. I'm doing my best to make the BX worthy of a place on the field at Wetherby, not a crusher. :)

I'm sure they'll turn up. As more BXs are retired or sold off all these bits will arrive with the enthusiasts (though sadly some will inevitably be lost to the crusher... :( ). ebay.fr and Leboncoin are certainly worth looking at.

That sounds interesting... I'd have one on my desk :)

Providing you close the curtains first you should be fine. ;)

Can I just watch? I've got a note excusing me from PE/cage fighting...

If you see any more, let me know!

The sphere is just a squidgy foam suspension sphere with a shiny green surface - I've never seen another one but I assume there must once have been millions of them about. I'm away for a few days from this morning, but if I remember, I'll take a pic at some point.

I put a three figure bid on Matt F's black armrest last year... and thought nobody would be stupid enough to put in a higher bid than me... for what is effectively a piece of 20 year old plastic. But they did!

The centre armrest from late spec Rover 400 GSi/SEi fetch similar amount due to fitting in MG ZRs, which never came with one! Easy money to be made in eBaying them.

I always like to see accessories, but the only one that really appeals is the rear compartment doors, of which I only have one

The rest, including door handle protectors, headlight guards and sunroof deflectors spoil the look of the car for me, although wind deflector does serve a purpose.

3 figure bid?!
There must have been a problem with the bid, as it didn't go for that much! It's a real shame I had to sell it but finances dictated otherwise, I did originally have the idea about buying it to sell but once I thought about it I felt the better (more morally appealing option) would be to swap it with a friend for something I wanted...

IIRC you offered me the armrest in return for the door which I later sold you for £10 ! (this is not meant as a dig)

I think the arm-rest went for £60 in the end, not cheap, but it is rare.

I agree with Matt H, the sunroof deflector is great for reducing the wind noise, even with the roof shut and with a new roof seal fitted.

Oh... I must be thinking of something else then! I was sure I put in a massively stupid bid though.

My judgement is obviously more impaired now than it was then...

I once bid £1070 for a soundblaster 16 card - but that was because I didn't realise the full stop on my keyboard was intermittent  I meant to bid £10.70
And hopefully one day karma will be kind to me and I'll find a pair of estate rear side compartment doors for a few quid....
I'm sure if I ever get these fitted they will be home-made. I even gave up on the idea of a normal glove compartment lid - every replacement I ever got seemed to get broken hinges while it was sculling around in the garage waiting for me to get off my lazy butt and fit it. Eventually I got one with broken hinges and carved away the plastic with a dremel to fit brass hinges so this year I now have my first BX with a glovebox lid - feels quite posh

Yes I did

For some reason I was rushing to get something done and working with 2 computers using the one keyboard via a KVM switcher - so I'd switched to the ebay machine quickly to bid at the last moment - I must have seen the lack of the decimal point at the same moment as I clicked on 'confirm bid'.

My immediate reaction was thinking that I actually had that amount in the bank so if they insisted... while the hair on the back of my neck stood up so far it hurt - it slowly dawned on me that the ebay system would only crank the total up to the next quid or so and I started to calm down #-o

The Athlon 700 was my video capture machine - just fast enough to capture DV if everthing not required is prevented from running - the 128 audio card I originally fitted used too much processor time - going back to the 16 fixed that - it drops a single frame at the start of capture which is insignificant - everything else works fine :-)

You also need to beware bidding on French Ebay - they use a comma where we'd use a full stop to separate euros and centimes. Use a full stop and you might be bidding thousands of euros!
