How many people use there bxs every day
The TZD will be my only car next week as the 14 is being put into hibernation. The insurance is about 20% less on the 14, and I use about 15 litres petrol per 110 miles. Tax is half price. In the TZD I imagine I'll be cutting the fuel consumption by about a third...
I think I'd better do some actual work instead....

bx tzd
I use my bx tzd every day and have just come back from my third round trip from merseyside to london in one month and I have been keeping an eye on what mileage I am getting, from my calculations and using shell diesel I am getting 56.24 miles a gallon.
I can't believe it !!!

I would if I could work out what is causing the brakes to have a two second delay. Busy searching the web for answers as we typ.
Not encountered that phenomenon.
Seeing as the brakes work by depressing a button on the valve block, bolted to the engine side of the bulkhead, opposite the brake pedal,
I would have thought that's the first culprit to look at.
67 and still rockin (but not in a chair)
Can't see how that can happen as these brakes are not power-assisted but power brakes. Perhaps you have so much air in the brake lines that it's delaying the fluid compressing the calipers? Have you topped the fluid resevoir up to the right level? Is the accumulator sphere flat?bxnewby wrote:I would if I could work out what is causing the brakes to have a two second delay. Other things to check - glazed pads, semi-seized calipers sliding pins, and internally collapsing hoses.

Our poor old BX 1.4 st tropez that we use as a loan car gets used every day, the poor old things now on about 180,000 miles. It has a few battle scars and the rust is slowly eating the sills (which we will replace soon) but that old 1.4 engine keeps on going, those engines are really amazing.

Er, umm, I did go to tescos in the TZI last week and work to change the door bins, oh and down to chevonics in December. Havent used one every day for 14 years but the nice thing is getting behind the wheel reminds why i love them so much and it feels a "bit of an occassion" which I wouldnt do using it everyday, although in all that time and having owned about 25 of them not one has ever left me stranded.
I looked at the white one when it was all polished up under the sodium lamps in the workshop, with the suspension down and it did looks the mutts nuts!
