keep an eye out on how that 4x4 is doing on price & submit that to the insurers :D

At 1st that didn't look too bad, until the piccy with the bonnet up, erm oh dear. Not having much of a clue about that sort of damage, does it mean that the chassis is bent/twisted or is it just the front subframe only?

Hi Mulley/Mathew
The more i look at it the less bad it seems.
The front subframe has not been touched and it all seems fairly superficial.
I even think with a bit of time the wing could be salvaged.
I have saved worse before.
Many years ago when two friends of mine were racing in the big boy's toys beetle cup.
One of them had a very heavy shunt and the nearside front wing/ headlight was a complete mess.
Some obnoxious prat said to me you will need a new wing there.
Well shall we say 10 hours of banging and heating and welding later that wing was as good as new.
At the next meeting he came over and said i see you fitted a new wing then.
To which i said take a look under there it's the same wing just repaired.
He went of with his tail between his legs.
And i think this could be done the same.
Believe me it is amazing what a challenge that was and i would like to do this one the same.
Tim i might take you up on that headlight.
Not to jump the gun at all i think i will wait and see how good the meeting with the accessor goes on monday.

What bad news about the Green Hornet Phil, but good news that you were not damaged like the car.

I hope it may well be fixable. The last two times I was victim of a no blame accident I did not make a claim on my insurance because the third party's insurers simply took on the whole claim. So I had no loss of excess, bonus or my blameless insurance record. I also got to keep the wreck to repair or scrap as appropriate.

This is a bad week. Two named club BXs biting the dust in one week. I am talking about Grolliffe and Green Hornet.
The Joy of BX with just one Citroën BX to my name now. Will I sing Bye Bye to my GTI or will it be Till death us do part.

Fixable. Ok, yes, insurance write off without doubt, but then a scratch on the bumper will write a BX off now.
If the subframes not moved and the inner wings are ok from the strut mounts back it's a bit of bashy bashy and a new front valance maybe.
I've pulled worse out TBH.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

If it's decided that the car is viable to repair, there may be may be some parts of use on my scrap TZD, which are the correct colour. Things like the front slam panel.... you would have to remove it from the car though, as I'm no good at that kind of thig.

I have a N/S front wing which is the correct shape, but wrong colour.

If they let you put it back on the road, you still have to decide if it is easier to transfer the best parts onto another car to create Green Hornet II.

I know you have done many modifications to the car, and doing all these a second time would be very time consuming.

Those parts are available as long as they are not required by Chris. He has first refusal on pretty much everything!

Hi All
Hire car eventually arrived.
FORD MONDEO tdci hatch 59 plate.
Good points. it's diesel and it has a 6 speed gearbox.
Bad points. everything else! Plus it's a modern eurobox very large blind spots small glass area and a double cup holder designed to fit McDonalds cup YUK!!!!!!!!.
But it is transport, which i need.
I am keeping a close eye on the white TZD Estate fingers toes and everything else crossed.
The 4x4 is climbing in value as we speak. 8)

Hi All
Update on the Green Hornet.
The engineer came in the pouring rain this morning and accessed the damage.
He took pictures and had a good look round.
Checked all the documentation etc;
He said he would go back to his office and check values etc.
He rang back this afternoon and said the trade value of The Green Hornet was £260 with 130000 on the clock and the retail was £440 with the same mileage.
Bearing in mind the mileage on the Green Hornet is 254000.

We came to a mutually agreed settlement of £375 and i get to keep the car.
So The Green Hornet looks to be safe until i start looking deeper into the damage.
But even the engineer said it did not look too serious apart from the front panel.
But with a bit of time and tugging here and there it is repairable.
So to that end i need the following.

Plastic radiator top locating panel ( the one with the air intake same as GTI)
Bonnet although the old one is cracked it will surfice for the time being
Possibly a second hand front panel.

Parts i have.
NSF wing
Bumper from my old TZD hatch
Headlight I think
Indicator I think
