I forgot we were talking Wales... :D Anglesey is near the sea though and there's probably a nice warming glow off the nuke station

That little phenomenon saves money on torches. Herself works at the power station so she glows nicely (especially when agitated).

Being surrounded by the sea of course, means that we have a marine micro-climate. It's always warmer here than on the mainland (we've had no snow for some years now) and often, if it's raining on one side of the island, it'll be clear on the other.

For the last 3 years, April and May have been mini summers out here ... we had a BBQ in mid-April last year and were sitting outside "en patio".

I like it here.

It's certainly on my radar - though the call of the mountains is strong too :)

Snowdon is on the way there (or back of course) - I'm determined to walk up it at least once more before my hip gives me too much grief and needs the stainless steel jobby - sounds a good oportunity to me. I'd plan on going up / down via P-Y-G / Miners tracks if anyone feels like joining me.

On the way would be advised - it'd not be that much fun with a hangover...

That lake is at a constant 30 degrees below zero, even in midsummer! Jump in that damned thing, and you'd be hypothermic is nanoseconds, your giggle pin'd go into shock and drop off, while your gonads would shrivel to the size of raisins and instantly migrate to the back of your throat for warmth.

I'm sure that lake has a direct connection to a deep freeze in hell!!!!

I think i should be able to hop on the ferry for this one. Not sure with or without Citroen. Maybe if I could go halves with a fellow enthusiast.

Either way I'm up for it. I'm there. With tent. No pneumatic drill though, things should be warmer by then.

I've been in a couple of situations close to that - surprisingly once in the Med - at Cap D'agde naturist resort. Once they've got to that size the cold water rushing past them as you swim feels like sandpaper

A while back I was regularly chatting by email with a guy in Wisconsin who lived in a area with lots of lakes and a lot of the local lakeside properties had poor access by road. When planning building works a lot of folks waited 'till winter for delivery of the heavy stuff - so the trucks could drive over the frozen lakes to get to them.

I am BXless but more than up for Snowdon, a word of advice parking at Pen y pass which is the logical start point for the PYG / Miners track is £10 per day so it may not be an ideal meeting point for several cars.

The layby at the bottom of the hill next to the Pen y Gwryd hotel is £4 a day.

Where did this sudden fetish for clambering up mountains come from?

I'm kind've working on the assumption that any weekend, however planned, will revolve around BBQ food, beer, and nattering about BX's ad nauseam ....... :(
