sold my 98 toyota camry for £1,500, the guy freely admitted it was going to Nigeria and would fetch between £5,000 and £5,500

Erm... I think the scrapyard would have paid £400 for a perfectly good BX that can be sold on for considerably more abroad.

Like I said before, a lot of perfectly good cars that went to slightly shady breakers yards during the scrappage scheme were sold on in africa. As far as the government were concerned, they were destroyed, but a few people made a serious amount of money.
