Well - does seem a little overpriced according to the pictures, but it should find it's correct value on ebay... I await the end of the auction with great interest.

So Do I!!!!!

Thought advertising it on here would promote genuine enthusiasm for a car as rare as this, not to be pulled apart like a piece of meat by rabid hyenas!!!

Thanks

It does but it is a very strange phenomenon that afflicts every car-related forum I frequent. I can't explain it, but it might have something to do with a sort of familiarity breeding contempt. I hope the sale goes well, and if £900 is attained then there will be much egg-on-faces, but also a genuine recognition that collectively we are undervaluing the BX.

Time to big up the values?

Scotty, you come onto this site to sell a car which we think is a bit pricey, if you add up the amount of experience on the site & no one thinks your car is worth £900, then chances are it isn't. We aren't going to lie to you, if we think its a shed, then we'll say so, if its an undesirable model, we'll say so, i think you get the gist, its nothing personal, just our experience tbh. Good luck with the sale, my impression is that its a nice car which should find a home at the right price

It's that old trait of valuing our own stuff more than that of others. At the moment I'm driving around in my 14 thinking I've got the best car in the World, but I bet I couldn't get back half of what I've spent on it if I sold it. The truth is, it doesn't matter how good a seller says the mechanicals are, if the rest doesn't look the part people will value it according to that.

I honestly don't think you'll be able to sell it for £900. You might get your starting price but the tzd is the bx that everyone wants (and it is a very good car), though I'm inclined to believe that running costs are possibly a bit cheaper for a 14 if not needed for long motorway slogs.

Hi Guys,
I know what you are saying, have had many BX's in the past myself and other Cit's, I know that i wont get that sort of money for it, I am realistic, but we all try to get as much money back as poss.

My CX cost me more than i thought for MOT, so recouping where i can, appreciate your responses and honesty.

There's no harm in going for the mega bucks, but you're more likely to sell your car if its at a realistic price. My guess would be somewhere between £400-700, who knows the right buyer might pay more, its just whoever is out there & really wants it.

Hi Scott

We all think BX's are under valued on here but the reality is even low mileage one owner petrol cars with FSH are only fetching £400

Gotta be honest, seems a bit off the guy makes a for sale thread to try and sell his car and people with no real interest in buying it come along and publically declare it a rip-off. If it\'s too expensive, he\'ll still be the owner until it\'s not. We\'d be better off having an active value thread in the spotted section where people who are interested in the values record how much they\'ve been going for and work out the mean price in that one thread. No harm to anyone trying to sell a car then, as it\'s exactly the same as a potential buyer looking at other cars for comparison.

Just my two pence.

I'll kick off a comparison then:-

1990 BX14TGE, full MOT but short tax. near perfect interior, very little rust (corner of the boot floor and 1 rear inner arch), but a couple of minor dents & and some paint issues on the passenger side. Rare colour (delage red) on a BX. 140k miles but still very strong mechanically (doesn't need the oil topping up between changes!) Everything working, but no radio fitted.

Bought off Ebay last summer for £235!

I was comparing my car above to Scotty's when I was giving my opinion as to value, but I'd be more than happy to proved wrong, because it means that if I decide to sell once the GS is back on the road I may actually make a profit, especially as I plan to improve the paintwork on the car in the spring.

Edit - Fat Fingers!

Yes, but consider how Scotty feels. He comes and advertises the car here and what he gets is a load of picky folk complaining that his pricing is unrealistic. It's on Ebay - it'll find its value. Why keep going on about it being over-priced?

Not very nice for Scotty, and makes BX owners look like a bunch of tight, miserable sods - which having met quite a few, doesn't seem a fair reflection.

Sorry if it looks like I'm ranting. Maybe I'm still upset about being ripped of for a tyre swap on my BX.

No he came on here trying to sell it to BX enthusiasts for £900 with no mention of Ebay, It was Mulley who connected it to the £500 start bid on Ebay not Scott who made the mistake of thinking enthusiasts are soft touches & will pay more than market value because their common sence is clouded by their fondness of the cars.
